So many people struggle to do this and that is why they are average at best route runners. On mostly every route there is a point in time where you need to sell vertical and sell fade. When you sell fade and can run full speed into a route, with good body language, and no indicators of what you are going to do, you will get separation. If you can make a DB believe fade, you are more likely to win, that is so hard for the DB to anticipate what you are going to do if you play fast. Now secondly, after you get the DB to believe fade and you get him to run with you it’s about changing direction quickly, dropping your hips and being sudden with your feet on speed cuts or double moves doesn’t allow the DB time to react, and when you are sudden that creates energy.
