3 QB Throwing Tips

Today we are going to talk about 3 things QBs can do to get better. The first one is going to be loosening up your hips. If you can have loose hips and be comfortable driving your back hip and rotating your front hip it will cause a lot less effort put into your throws. Your hips are everything as a QB. A guy with stiff or tight hips will not be able to throw effectively. Work dissociation drills and stretch to get your hips loose! The second thing I would like to talk about is your base. Too many guys think their power comes from being underneath their frame. That is not the case. Your feet need to be just outside your shoulders, if you can get to this position your front stride will be quicker and that eliminates a longer release if you are driving your hips (see tip #1). Lastly I would like to talk about film study, QBs need to be looking at their throwing motion everyday. Studying film of yourself is so effective and if you don’t you are going to struggle mechanically. It’s like a golfer never taking a look at his swing.
