3 Things All QBs Must Do

All QBs need to be able to do the following 3 things. Make off platform throws, extend plays and read defenses. If you can be comfortable making off platform throws life will be a lot easier at the QB position. If you can make throws all over the field without having your feet set you will be a much more successful QB. Off platform throws are when you have to navigate in the pocket because of pressure and you do not have time to set your feet to the throw, but you still need to get the ball out on time. Extending plays is an ability I believe you need to have to play QB in this day and age. If you are not somewhat mobile I don’t think you can play QB anymore. The defensive line is so fast and they get faster and faster every year, I’m not saying you need to be a true dual threat but be mobile enough to avoid a rush and get out to throw on the run if you have to. Lastly, the most important thing QBs need to do is read coverages. If you know what your opponent is going to do before they even do it, you will be a successful QB or at least have a greater opportunity to be one. Make sure you study defenses like you study for a math test. If you want to learn how you can read defenses and improve your football IQ, click the link below! ⬇️
