Average Height For WRs Based On Age

Grant Caraway

We get asked the question often “coach I am xyz height am I tall enough at my age to play WR” So we wanted to write something addressing this question because height is not something you need to worry about.

Also, in 2024 we are coming out to 14 more cities for QB/WR camps! We will be coming to Miami FL(SOLD OUT), Las Vegas NV (SOLD OUT), Charlotte NC (SOLD OUT), Portland OR, Dallas TX, Nashville TN, Chicago IL, Buffalo NY, Atlanta GA, Houston TX, Philadelphia PA, Detroit MI, Boise ID & Los Angeles CA! So height is purely genetic- you are either going to be short or you’re going to be tall. That’s it. So I don’t think it’s something you can worry about. As a football player you only want to focus on what you can control. And height is not something you can control. Below we are going to list some different age brackets and give a range of height. We train a lot of WRs all over the country each year so these are the averages of what we have seen. Obviously, with the younger ages, you have not hit puberty yet or a growth spurt- so I don’t even like this conversation if you are under the age of 14. We will still give averages but please do not let this discourage you if you have not hit a growth spurt.

Ages 9-12: 4’7-5’0

Ages 13-14: 5’3-5’8

Ages 15+: 5’10+

Again, don’t let this discourage you. Use this as a guideline of understanding that you might be undersized or you might have good size. If you’re undersized you will probably be better off playing slot- more realistic position. If you have good size, you’re more than likely an outside WR.
