So if you plan on buying your own shoulder pads (this is what I recommend - if you can’t afford, no worries. School pads are fine just sometimes they aren’t the greatest pads) the two things you want to look for are mobility and comfort.

I’m gonna recommend 3 brands that I feel are the best for skill players like QBs & WRs.

Cheaper One:

Battle Pads - these have great mobility, protection and are comfortable. They won’t break the bank.

More Expensive Option:

2in1 Pads- get the polyester not carbon fiber. Carbon Fiber is like $700 and I don’t personally believe it will make too much of a difference. Essentially you put a vest on  and then a plate over the vest. So it’s 2 pieces of equipment. These are insanely light, you have good protection and the BEST mobility out there.

Most Expensive Option:

X-Tech Pads- I honestly like these because you can custom fit them to yourself. They allow for this on their website. It’s pricy but a lot of NFL and college players wear these. Mainly because of mobility, protection and the custom option.
