Below we will be discussing the perfect WR highlight tape that you can make. Even if you play in an offense that doesn’t pass, there are certain things you can do to make your highlight tape stand out.

1)- Don’t make the mistake of posting routine plays. Guys, WR is one of the most competitive positions in football. Everyone wants to be a WR. So your highlight tape needs to be full of plays that separate you from the thousand of other WRs in the country. If a play doesn’t showcase your speed, tough catching ability, explosiveness, yards after catch, yards after contact, explosive route running etc. then don’t post it. If you’re wide open on a slant route and the DB just played bad or made a wrong read… that’s not a highlight. If you catch a hitch route then get tackled for a 6YD gain- that’s not a highlight.
2)- Showcase that you are an athlete. Guys, the top recruits every year are labeled “ATH”. Look at Travis Hunter. One of the best recruits ever and he played 100+ snaps last weekend… going both ways. College coaches want explosive playmakers… not explosive WRs. I understand WR is your main position- but you should be playing special teams and defense if needed. Those are just increased opportunities to make plays. Especially if you are in a run heavy offense.
3)- Don’t neglect blocking. Don’t post routine blocking plays to your film- but if there’s a block you made that set up a TD or you pancaked a DB/LB… please include that to your highlight film. The run game is at least 20% of every offense in college- so don’t leave out that 20%. Again, especially if you are in a run heavy offense or don’t get a lot of targets.
