What should you look for when you study film? When it comes down to film study of a player there are a few things you can do. Mainly what I suggest you look at is what you already know. Look at what you think you are good at and try to find similarities in a player. If I am watching film on a great QB who I want to try to play like, I’m going to look at similarities between us two. If there are none, I know I need to do more. Then what I would do is try to find 3-4 other players who are somewhat similar and try to see what they have in common with each other. What are the key things that they all do that make them great? Then I would compare that to myself. Now that is just one part of film study, you also need to be able to study your opponent.
