How WRs Can Watch Film

In the film room, WRs should be focused on a few different things that can help them improve & that is what we will be focusing on today. First and foremost WRs need to study the DB or LB or even safety they will be going against that week or that game. This is how you can structure a plan of attack. If you are watching film without a notebook and pen, you are 100% wrong and not going to get anything out of it. You should be writing down the tendencies of each DB. Have a chart with all of the different techniques DBs play (like zone, inside shade press, catch technique, cover 2 etc.) and put tally marks next to the coverage each time you see it on tape. This is how you can figure out if a team is in zone or press xyz % of the time. Then you can start organizing what you will do when each route you run is called. Walk into the game with 5-6 different press releases all based off of this and maybe 3-4 moves at the top of the route based off of this. If they like to run inside shade press 75% of the time, you should have 3 releases solely based on this. This is how you can study your opponent and be more effective in the game. Film study is how you can simplify the WR position and how you can play much faster!
