3 Essential Tips For QBs

All QBs need to be able to do these things if they want to be successful, be able to extend plays. If you are not somewhat athletic as a QB in this era of football you can’t play. You don’t need to run a 4.4 forty yard dash but you need to be able to extend plays. Second, QBs need to understand reads and progressions. If you don’t know how to read a defense you will not succeed in college and you will not succeed anywhere past the collegiate level. The mind is the most important thing you can develop. Lastly but certainly not least QBs need to be able to get some velocity and some distance on their throws. If you can’t make mostly all the throws that are required on the field you cannot play college ball. The quickest way to jump out to scouts at the QB position is by having elite arm talent and having the arm strength necessary to make all college throws. For example a throw you need to make is a timing speed out from the opposite hash to your back side. That’s a big time throw, you can’t make that without having above average arm strength. Arm strength comes from leg strength which allows you to produce ground force and core strength which helps you produce torque. Those are the two keys to arm strength.
