1)- Calorie surplus. I think this is a simple concept to understand. If you consume more calories than you burn- you are bound to gain weight. As athletes we are constantly moving, running, working out and burning calories. So this is something you need to track. It may require a financial investment, but you need to track the calories that you burn when you workout. If you go to google, and search up “calorie burner tracker” there will be a ton of products that you can use for this. Some cheaper than others and some more on the expensive side. It’s easy to track the calories in food- just look on the ingredient label. But you need to take calorie tracking seriously if you want to see a fast increase in your weight.

2)- I only recommend this for some, but taking creatine was one of the most beneficial things I personally ever did. This helped me gain muscle, strength and ultimately weight. Now creatine gets a lot of bad press. If you’re hesitant I would suggest that you do your research on the product to figure out if it’s right for you. I can only speak from experience, but if you drink plenty of water and don’t change up your workout routine when getting off the product, you will only see positive benefits. Essentially what creatine does is that it increases muscle hydration internally in your muscles. This is why people think creatine makes you fat. It’s just water weight- but muscle hydration leads to improved strength, which improves your workouts. So you can’t just take the product and then get big. You still have to put in the work. Like I said, if you’re hesitant… do the research and decide for yourself. I recommend this only to high school athletes. 3)- Take your recovery seriously. When working out hard to gain weight- if you’re constantly breaking down your muscles without properly recovering… your muscles never have a chance to grow. You are essentially over training. Now I know a lot of you want to workout everyday because you feel like you are cheating yourself by taking a rest day. But your recovery is a part of the grind. Make sure you get 8 hours of sleep, stretch everyday, cold plunge or ice bath when needed and take 1-3 rest days per week depending on your workout split. If you feel 100% every-time in the gym, you will get more out of your workouts and this can lead to a heavy muscle increase. Which ultimately will help you gain weight.
