3 WR RECOVERY METHODS

Today we will be discussing 3 things that WRs should incorporate into their daily routines to help their body’s recover. Especially as WRs we are constantly running and we sometimes have 2-3 workouts everyday. So we have to take pride in our recovery so our body can be refreshed and ready to go to hit peak performance the next day. I hope this helps!


So the first thing that I think WRs do not do enough of is stretch. So many WRs are so STIFF and cannot move. You should try to stretch 30 minutes in the morning when you wake up and then 30 minutes at night. Also doing something like yoga if you have the time or means to do that would be great for your flexibility. It helps your body work out soreness but also it can help you make smoother transitions into breaks and open up your stride to make you faster. Everyday WRs should be stretching. Make it a necessity.


The second thing WRs should be doing is utilizing a massage gun, foam roller or baseball. Something to massage the soreness out of your body. So a massage gun can be wildly expensive so if you don’t have that I would use a foam roller of some sorts or a baseball if you don’t have that. Anything hard to roll on will help you. This is something you should do before you workout and around the time you stretch at night. Will help with soreness and loosen your muscles before a workout in the gym or on the field. Make it a part of your routine so when you hit the field you can get the most out of your workouts and You don’t waste time having to get your body acclimated.

And last but not least I recommend ice baths maybe 2-3x per week. Everyday if possible. Or a cryo chamber but I understand not everyone has access to this.This is a great way to keep your body fresh and to get rid of soreness. You essentially shiver out the lactic acid in your muscles. Obviously it’s much more complicated than that, but that’s the way it was always explained to me.
