I want to make this clear, bench press isn’t the most important max lift for football players. Personally I think it’s one of the more dangerous lifts you can do as a football player. If you are maxing out please have someone help you get the weight off the rack. That’s where most injuries happen, guys take the barbell off the rack & then they go too far forward and can strain their rotator cuff/front side of their shoulder. Please be careful & don’t lift with your ego. We make this post because we have gotten a lot of questions about this.

QB- N/A

Shouldn’t be benching. There is no benefit. For your upper body do push ups, band resistance push ups, diamond push ups, reverse grip push ups on a bench etc.

If you have to do bench, please go light. It is so essential that you maintain flexibility in your upper half and keep your shoulders healthy. The risk outweighs the reward for QBs.

WR/DB- 205-225lbs depending on size

RB- 250lbs

LB- 255lbs

TE- 265lbs

OL/DL- 275lbs
