CAN YOU GET OFFERS AT COLLEGE CAMPS?

Today we will be discussing why getting an offer at a college camp can be extremely unlikely if you are unknown. Camps aren’t a complete waste of time however, I still think it’s very beneficial to go- but I just want to make sure your expectations are where they need to be. I hope this can help!

If you are a WR reading this, checkout the link below for our 2 month off season WR training guide. You will get access to 8 weeks of route running drills, press release drills and catching drills all made into a daily schedule. We give the exact sets/reps to do on each day and we include an 8 week gym workout schedule to follow as well with the same format. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

So a lot of athletes every year will attend college camps in hopes of standing out and getting noticed by a college coach at the camp. Which is great and I personally think that’s a great use of your time. But if you think that from a single 2 hour workout in T-Shirt & shorts, you will get a scholarship offer… you will be sadly mistaken. Camps can start the recruiting process and help with the process but you will not go from unnoticed to a scholarship offer in one day. Now, some of you might be thinking “well coach I know of xyz player who got an offer at this camp so that’s why I’m going”. 99.9% of the time, that athlete was already getting recruited by the school. Think about this guys, the recruiting process for colleges starts in JANUARY. College camps take place in June/July. That means colleges have been actively recruiting for 6-7 months. Why would they offer a kid who they have never seen film on in month 7 of the process. They won’t. So I write this just to make sure you have the right expectations. Go to college camps to network. Go to meet coaches and to perform which can start the process. In a perfect world, this is how the camp should go:

Attend the camp

Perform well & get a coaches attention

Speak with the coach after the camp

Get the coaches X information & follow him

Message him after the camp thanking him for his time

In the fall, send him your mid season and full season highlights

This is how the process goes and this is what I feel you should be focused on when attending a camp. I hope this can bring you some insight.
