Below we will be discussing the height needed to play college football. Height is not as important as you think but it can definitely help your case as a college football player.

Also, in 2024 we are coming out to 15 more cities for QB/WR camps! We will be coming to San Francisco CA, Miami FL, Las Vegas NV, Charlotte NC, Portland OR, Dallas TX, Nashville TN, Chicago IL, Buffalo NY, Atlanta GA, Houston TX, Philadelphia PA, Detroit MI, Boise ID & Los Angeles CA! Everyone always talks about the “eye test”. “Does he pass the eye test?” And essentially that means is he a tall player and does he look like a college football player. So all of the statistics I am going to list below on height are based on averages that all of you can look up on ESPN. If you go to ESPN’s website and search up “USC Football Roster” or any team… you will find a list of heights and weights. Now, here is the deal with height- you can’t control it. So why worry about it? If you are like me, and did not come from the best height genetic pool… you’re probably not gonna be tall. That doesn’t mean you can’t be a great football player. Yes, it’s easier for taller guys to get looks and stand out at camps but this is not basketball. If you’re tall and suck… you still suck. If you’re short and a baller… you’re still a baller. So height shouldn’t be on your list of things to worry about. Improving your skills/technique should be. Getting faster. Getting bigger etc. Instead of spending time worrying about your height, how about you spend that time actually getting better and improving. It’s harder for the shorter guys of course, but it’s hard for anybody to play football at the next level. Now, below I’m going to list the average heights for QBs & WRs at D1 schools. Don’t get discouraged if you’re not this tall. This is just for informational purposes so you can see the size of the competition.

QBs: 6’2-6’4

WRs: 6’0-6’2
