Below we will be discussing the height, weight & speed of WRs at the division 1 level. I hope this is able to help you and let you know where you are at from a physical standpoint as a receiver.

Also, if you play WR and would like a 2 month daily workout schedule to follow, checkout the link below! We give you 8 weeks of field route running workouts (sets & reps/video examples included), 8 weeks of WR specific gym workouts (sets/reps/examples includes) and a 1 Month speed development workout plan to do. Check it out here ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Now, before I list these averages, you need to understand that if you are below average in any one of these categories we are discussing today… you will be fine. This is not meant to crush anybody’s dreams. Wide receiver is still a skill position. Does speed help, yes. Does height & weight help, yes. Is it everything? No. Some areas you can improve in if you lack size or speed are your route running, press release game, blocking, catching and knowledge of offenses. Those things are all really important at the WR position. So just know, if you’re below average… you got some work to do. Which is totally fine.

Average height: 5’10-6’2 (slots & outside)

Average weight: 180-215lbs (slots & outside)

Speed: 4.6 40 time or below

Again, this is at the D1 level. D1 football players are freak athletes so if these times seem outrageous to you, just know like we said above, you have work to do.
