How WRs Can Gain Weight But Keep Speed

This is one of the most common questions that we get asked and our answer will always be that you need to mix in mass building gym exercises with explosive exercises. Obviously everyone knows that to put on weight in the gym, you need to do the core exercises. Bench, squats, shoulder press curls etc. I’m not saying those are bad for you because they are good to gain weight but simply those are bodybuilding exercises. They will not help with performance. (Besides squats) They will help with weight gain but can often times slow you down. So you need to make sure you organize your workouts with the mass building exercises above and explosive movements to keep that speed and quick twitch. For WRs it is so important to keep their explosiveness because that is how the game is played. If you don’t mix in exercises like power cleans, hang cleans, push jerk, box jumps etc. you will lose your performance on the field.
