Below we will be discussing the best time to transfer schools and when you should stick it out in the position you are in. I hope this can help!

Also, in 2024 we are coming out to 15 more cities for QB/WR camps! We will be coming to San Francisco CA, Miami FL, Las Vegas NV, Charlotte NC, Portland OR, Dallas TX, Nashville TN, Chicago IL, Buffalo NY, Atlanta GA, Houston TX, Philadelphia PA, Detroit MI, Boise ID & Los Angeles CA! Transferring is so common nowadays. When something doesn’t go an athletes way, often times they are way too quick to transfer. You should transfer schools I believe, when there is absolutely no chance of you working your way into a starting role. If you are behind someone who is your age, not getting a fair shake or behind an underclassman- I think all of those can be good reasons to transfer. However that’s not for every position. Think about QBs- there can only be one. Now, think about WRs… there are usually 4 on the field at a given time…. So I think based on your position you can find another way to get onto the field. If you play WR or maybe if you are a lineman… learn another position. Not an entirely new one, if you’re an outside WR- learn how to play in the slot. If you’re an offensive tackle, learn how to play center or guard. You just need to get on the field. I don’t agree with those positions transferring just simply because they aren’t playing. There are many ways to get on the field.

Now, aside from play time, there are other reasons you can transfer schools. That could be academics. If the school you are at has very poor academics and they are not setting you up properly for your future, that can be grounds to transfer. If you do not like the football culture, that can be grounds to transfer- even if you are starting. But one thing I want to make clear, please do not transfer because you think you might get “more exposure” somewhere else. Guys, college coaches need to see dominant varsity film no matter where you play at. Yes at a bigger school you will get more hype and play better competition. But you still have to perform and at a bigger school there is no guarantee you will be in a starting role. If you are a varsity starter at a small school, that is 10x better than sitting the bench or getting little play time at a bigger school. The only way I would accept someone transferring for this is that if a starting spot is pretty much guaranteed. If you want to play the highest level of high school football, I love that. But make sure you have a set spot at a new school. Also, when it comes to transferring, please talk to a parent or guardian. They will always have your best interest.
