Being able to read coverages is one of the most important things a football player can do. Not just QBs either. If you want a better understanding of your playbook and offense, all positions should be able to read coverages. If you can understand what a defense is doing, it’s going to make your job on offense a lot easier. The reasons QBs should know coverages can go without saying. But for WRs and RBs you can structure your routes to know when to sit in a certain situation in coverage where a hole would be or know when to carry out your route, or know when a back shoulder throw might be coming. The mental side of the game is so important and all football players should spend 1 hour everyday studying the mental side of the game.
