3 Ways WRs Can Increase Speed

The first thing WRs can do for speed is resistance training. So many WRs will just train incorrectly and run sprints and solely work on form. Yes that can help but to A certain extent. You need to develop explosion and power. Running up hills, running with sleds/parachutes and weighted vests will all help you. When you can combine that with good running form you will see increases in your speed.

The second thing you can do to develop speed is to improve your fast twitch muscle fibers. Speed is all about activating your fast twitch fibers. AKA all out effort movements. Sprinting is an all out effort movement. So in the gym you need to be working explosive exercises. Power cleans, jump squats, box jumps to just name a few!

If you guys would like a 12 week workout schedule with gym workouts increase your speed and explosiveness, checkout the link below! ⬇️

And last but not least WRs can stretch to improve speed. So many guys are extremely tight at their hips and physically cannot drive their knees. They can’t lift their knees past their hips and get to a parallel position. Make sure you are stretching your hips, hamstrings, groin and glutes/quads to develop a longer/smoother stride which will lead to more speed. If you guys would like some stretches for speed contact us on Instagram and we can send you some!
