Below we will be discussing the average 40 time for middle school WRs. Grades 6th-8th- this is a common question we get asked by a lot of athletes & parents so I hope this can give you some insight.
Also, if you play WR and would like a 2 month daily workout schedule to follow, checkout the link below! We give you 8 weeks of field route running workouts (sets & reps/video examples included), 8 weeks of WR specific gym workouts (sets/reps/examples includes) and a 1 Month speed development workout plan to do. Check it out here ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Now, I am not the biggest advocate for the 40yd dash. It’s unfortunately a way people measure speed. So in this article I am going to give you a range of times that I think is reasonably good for your age as a WR. Don’t be super concerned with the time. Coaches want to see game speed and what you can do on the field. Often times at camps, they will do 40yd dashes and it’s a complete BS system. You have guys standing in line for 20 minutes, legs getting cold etc. so they can get their “laser time”. It’s so dumb. We have never done 40yd dashes at our camps and never will because of it. When you run your 40, if you are in this general time range you have some speed and you will be fine if you keep developing.
6th Grade WRs- 5.8-5.5
7th Grade WRs- 5.5-5.2
8th Grade WRs- 5.2-4.9
Also, in 2025 we are coming out to 15 more cities for QB/WR skill camps!
