Now guys bench press can be beneficial for some football players in terms of blocking or a 1st punch on a block/shedding a block- but it’s not the be all end all. A lot of injuries can happen so if you’re maxing out, max sure you using good bench press form & have someone help you get the weight off the rack. That is where most injuries occur. We get this question a lot so we wanted to make a dedicated post on it.
QBs- N/A- not worried in the slightest about this lift. 1)- It’s the worst thing possible for your throwing shoulder.
2)- Benching has no athletic benefit to playing QB.
To work your chest you are better off doing band resistance push ups & different variations of push ups.
Light dumbbell bench is what I recommend if you’re gonna do the exercises.
WR/DB- 155lbs
RB- 175lbs
LB- 185lbs
TE-205lbs
OL/DL- 225lbs
