So honestly you can get a scholarship offer with only 1 year of varsity film. I think every athletes goal should be to start varsity as soon as possible but some people may not get to start on varsity as a freshman or sophmore. But you don’t need to worry. Everyone’s journey is a little different. For a D1 offer, I’ve seen guys get one off of 1 year of film, but there are a few things you must have. 1)- Really dominant highlight tape 2)- Play at a big school with a lot of exposure. If you don’t have those 2 things it will be tough to obtain a D1 offer. You also have to attend camps in the summer and meet a lot of college coaches. Showcase you have the skills at their camps. Now, if you’re not at a big school but only start 1 year you can easily get an offer from a D2, D3, or NAIA school. I have seen that a million times. To play D1, an easy path would be 2-4 years. The more film the better. I would say a minimum of 2, maximum of 4 for an easier path. Like I said, 1 year is fine just those steps mentioned above are the ones you need to take.
