Below we will be discussing HOW TALL YOU SHOULD BE BASED ON POSITION. I hope this is able to help!

Now these numbers are going to be based off of freshman in high school. I get this question all the time, “coach I’m xyz height, what position should I play?” - Now height isn’t the be all end all, but it can be important. This is for the guys who are genuinely not sure where to play. Let’s say you’re shorter than what I list here or taller than what I list here, this doesn’t mean you SHOULDN’T play the position you are playing right now. If you’re successful & have good skills, stick with what you do best.
QB- Good height as a freshman would be 5’10+ But if you’re shorter and can still ball, you should play QB. QB is more about the skills. You can get a guy who’s 6’5 but can’t throw & he shouldn’t be a QB.
WR/DB- 5’6-5’9
Generally on the skinnier side of things & faster
RB- 5’6-5’9
Generally on the thicker side of things. Weigh about 20lbs more than WRs & DBs.
TE- 5’10+ - not as heavy as linemen but the heaviest on the team.
LB- 5’8-5’9
Generally heavier than running backs but slower.
OL/DL- 5’10+
Heaviest guys on the team & the slowest usually.
