So, a lot of people think that being on a good team can help you in the recruiting process. The only benefit a good football team has is that you have more opportunities to make big plays on film due to that team making the playoffs. But a college coach isn’t recruiting your team, they are recruiting you. They don’t care about the wins and losses. They care about the kind of plays you can make on film. Everyone should want to win. Don’t be an individual who only cares about personal success. But if you’re in a situation where your team went 2-8 but you’re starting as a sophomore or freshman and you are thinking of transferring to a better school… it might not be the best option. At a bigger/better school you might not start. The only benefit would be more eyeballs for recruiting attention IF AND ONLY IF the school has better national exposure. But don’t be so quick to jump ship because you have a losing record. Like I said, college coaches want you… not the entire team. Your film, grades, relationship with your high school head coach and how you network with college coaches is what matters.
