What Grade Should You Worry About Recruiting?

A common question that we get asked is “what age should I start reaching out to college coaches, going to college camps, worrying about the recruiting process” etc. And that is what we will be discussing below. I hope this can help!

Also, if you are a QB or WR and would like to get a custom workout plan made for you, checkout the link below! You can send us film and I will give you an audio/video breakdown on your film with feedback on where you need to improve. Then based on that, we will construct a custom 8 week field & gym workout plan for you to follow! Here is the info ⬇️⬇️

So I would say probably 9th grade is when you should get started with the “recruiting process”. I think a lot of athletes have their heads in the wrong places when I mention a topic like this. At the end of the day, you need VARSITY FILM. Not 7on7 film, freshman film or JV film. So if you’re not on varsity yet- your primary goal needs to be improving your skills enough to make varsity. A lot of guys worry about camps and their social media profiles when they don’t even have film to show for it. Below we will talk about what you can do recruiting wise if you’re not in that position yet, but I want to make this crystal clear- making varsity as fast as possible should be your number one priority. Anybody below freshman year in high school should ONLY be focused on making varsity and improving their skills. No real recruiting happens until high school. So there is no need to worry about it- all these videos saying “oh this 8th grader has an offer from xyz school” are complete BS. They are fake offers, all staged for hype.

Now let’s say you’re a freshman, but not on varsity yet- you shouldn’t be passive and wait until you get varsity film to at least start with the recruiting process. Your focus needs to be building relationships with college coaches. You can start doing that on X (formerly known as Twitter). Everyone should make a profile and make it a professional football profile. Include your name, graduating class, position and the state you’re located in. Then on X you want to find college coaches on there and follow them/message them. Now what do you message them if you don’t have any film? I recommend asking them about camps you can attend. And if they respond and send you the info, that’s a contact that you have built further down the road for when you get varsity film. It’s all about starting relationships early. So freshman year is when you need to start this “process”. But primary goal needs to be making varsity.
